Building Partnerships
To-Dos:
-
Return to your assessment of your needs. Who in the community currently provides these needs and can be tapped as an existing resource? (i.e. space, enrollment specialists, publicity, expertise, etc.)? Approach these organizations to be a partner for your event.
-
Ask stakeholders (i.e. schools, local businesses, community organizations, places of worship, health care providers, local media) to partner with you and provide sponsorship in some form, such as in-kind donations, monetary donations, donation of space, time or volunteers.
-
Send letters to local businesses, organizations, leaders, media and prominent local institutions to sponsor your event.
Keys to success:
-
The sky is the limit! Ask anyone who interacts with families to partner and/or sponsor the event. Ask businesses, local leaders, politicians, hospitals, schools, community-based organizations, community leaders, places of worship, media, etc. Use your imagination.
-
Have specific “asks” in your sponsorship request letter. Do you want them to donate space, time, volunteers, money, publicity, materials?
-
Play to your partners’ strengths: What is their expertise and how can it make your event better?
